Orange Police Sgt Arrested at Hartford Yard Goats Game

Orange Police Sgt Arrested at Hartford Yard Goats Game

October 29, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor News

Frank Koshes, 57, from Orange, is currently seeking entry into a special probation program following his arrest at a Hartford Yard Goats baseball game.

The July 11 Incident at Dunkin’ Park

The charges stem from an encounter on July 11, 2026, during a game between the Hartford Yard Goats and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. According to a police report, Hartford police were called to the park after security staff reported that two men, identified as Koshes and John Hatfield, were acting in an intoxicated manner. Security officials further alleged that Hatfield made inappropriate comments toward a group of juveniles, saying he would “bang” them.

When security requested that the men leave the premises, they reportedly refused. The situation escalated when police intervened. The police report states that Koshes placed his hand on the chest of Hartford Police Sgt. Arber Gashi and “lightly pushed him” while outside the ballpark.

Status of the Accelerated Rehabilitation Request

Koshes is currently pursuing the accelerated rehabilitation program. His attorney, Brittany Paz, confirmed that a hearing originally scheduled for Monday to determine his eligibility was continued.

The legal path for his co-defendant, 40-year-old John Hatfield of Seymour, has already been settled. Hatfield, who faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing, was granted a supervisory probation program that is scheduled to run through March 15, 2027.

Internal Investigation and Employment Impact

The professional consequences for both men are currently unfolding. Orange Police Chief Robert Gagne stated that Koshes reported the arrest to his department. In response, the agency has initiated an internal investigation into the officer’s conduct.

Hatfield, who is employed as a teacher at Platt Technical High School in Milford, faces similar administrative scrutiny. Kerry Markey, the communications director for the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System, confirmed that Hatfield has been placed on paid administrative leave.
