Planet Detroit Seeks Revenue Director to Fuel Local Environmental Journalism
DETROIT, MI – Planet Detroit, a nonprofit news organization focused on environmental issues in the Detroit area, is actively seeking a Revenue Director to lead its fundraising and partnership efforts.The full-time, flexible hybrid position offers a salary range of $75,000 – $85,000, with potential performance incentives, alongside standard benefits including health insurance, a 401k match, and paid time off.
The Revenue Director will be responsible for securing new partnerships and sponsorships, growing membership and donor bases, and managing grant applications and stewardship. Success in the role will be measured by closing multiple new partnerships within six months, consistent growth and retention of members and donors, timely grant submissions, increased visibility at civic events, and providing clear revenue projections to the advisory board through data dashboards.
Candidates should possess 4+ years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, or development, with a proven track record of securing financial support. Experience building inclusive partnerships across diverse communities and strong grant writing skills are essential. Proficiency with CRMs (HubSpot), ESPs (ActiveCampaign), and donor management platforms (Donorbox) is required. An understanding of the media business is considered desirable.

The position reports to the Executive Editor and operates out of a shared coworking space in Midtown Detroit, with occasional evening/weekend meetings and travel.
