Inkwo: bridging Stop-Motion and Digital Synthesis
During the “Animation Theater In Conversation: Inkwo for When the Starving Return” event at SIGGRAPH 2024, filmmaker Amanda Strong, founder of Spotted Fawn Productions, and Eloi Champagne will detail the integration of computer-generated imagery (CGI) into the stop-motion animation of their film, Inkwo. The presentation will explore how digital elements enhanced the visual storytelling of the traditionally animated project. Spotted Fawn Productions is an Indigenous-owned production company based in Canada. Following a screening of the short film,a question-and-answer session will allow attendees to engage directly with Strong and Champagne.

Jo roy’s film, CORPUS AND THE WANDERING, will be presented as part of the Computer Animation Festival, a prominent section of SIGGRAPH dedicated to showcasing the year’s most innovative works in digital animation. The Computer Animation Festival, a core component of SIGGRAPH since its inception in 1973, receives submissions from artists worldwide and selects a curated program of exceptional animated shorts and feature excerpts. SIGGRAPH 2024 runs from May 14-17 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
