Olympique de Marseille has a new reinforcement. Unless there is a last-second surprise, Josh Doig, the Scottish defender from Hellas Verona, will be an OM player.

The file has dragged on in recent days, but this time all the planets are aligned and Josh Doig should quickly sign his new contract with Olympique de Marseille. Aged 21, the left back linked until 2026 with Hellas Verona will join Gennaro Gattuso’s squad. This Saturday afternoon, the La Minute OM account reveals that the Marseille leaders and those of the Italian club have finally agreed on the transfer of Josh Doig. Information also confirmed by transalpine media who are all sending Doig to Olympique de Marseille in the next 48 hours.

The announced departure of Renan Lodi to Saudi Arabia has accelerated negotiations, with OM able to invest a little of the 20 million euros promised for Lodi in the Scottish defender’s case. In this operation, Pablo Longoria had competition, since a Serie A club, Torino, was also very interested in the player trained at Heart of Midlothian. But obviously, over the last 48 hours, Marseille has progressed to the point of closing the file. A transfer which annoys Verona supporters, since several hundred of them demonstrated in front of the club’s headquarters to complain about the club’s policy during this winter transfer window. Not enough to prevent the operation from taking place and Josh Doig from coming to strengthen the Marseille defense.
