Kylian Mbappé delivered a stunning four-goal performance as Real Madrid defeated olympiacos 4-3 in a thrilling Champions League encounter in Athens.
Francisco Chiquinho gave the Greek side a surprise early lead with a 20-yard strike, but Mbappé quickly responded, scoring three goals in just seven minutes to turn the tide for the Spanish giants. This victory marks Real Madrid’s first competitive win in Athens after nine previous attempts, ending a three-game winless streak across all competitions.
Mbappé’s first goal came after a well-timed run onto a pass from Vinicius Jr., finishing calmly past the Olympiacos goalkeeper. He than headed in a cross from Arda Guler to level the score, before completing his hat-trick by capitalizing on an offside trap and converting a pass from Eduardo Camavinga.
Despite a disallowed goal for Vinicius Jr. due to Mbappé being offside, Real Madrid continued to press, with Aurelien Tchouameni hitting the crossbar. Olympiacos managed to pull one back through a powerful header from substitute Mehdi Taremi.
Mbappé secured his fourth goal with a close-range effort assisted by Vinicius,but Olympiacos refused to surrender,with Ayoub el Kaabi’s header offering a glimmer of hope late in the match. However, Real Madrid held on for the 4-3 victory.
The result sees Real Madrid move to fifth in the Champions League standings with three points, trailing leaders Arsenal by three points. Olympiacos remain at the bottom of the group with two points.
