Oliver Hudson: Family, Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn Connection
Actor Oliver Hudson, son of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, publicly acknowledged a strengthening relationship with his father in 2018, following a social media post that unexpectedly opened lines of communication. Hudson, who was born on September 7, 1976, described the interaction as “darkly comedic” and credited it with fostering a renewed connection after years of distance.
While Hudson has maintained a close relationship with Kurt Russell, who stepped into a parental role following his mother’s divorce from Bill Hudson, he clarified that Russell is “not my blood father,” but possesses a significant influence on his personality. “I have a lot of his mannerisms,” Hudson told Us Weekly in December 2025. “He’s just got so much life force in him. And when he loves, he loves hard, and when he laughs, he laughs hard.”
Hudson also noted a familial resemblance to his mother, acknowledging a shared emotional sensitivity. “I have all of her sensitivity,” he said. “I perceive a ton, you recognize—too much. That’s why I’m on 20 milligrams of Lexapro.”
Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson’s marriage, which ended in divorce in 1982, was marked by a growing disconnect, according to Hudson’s statements. The divorce impacted both Oliver and his sister, Kate Hudson, who have spoken publicly about feeling abandoned by their father.
Oliver Hudson married Erinn Bartlett in 2006, and together they have three children: Wilder Books Hudson, born August 23, 2007; Bodhi Hawn Hudson, born March 19, 2010; and Rio Laura Hudson, born July 18, 2013.
Hawn’s relationship with Kurt Russell began in 1983, during the filming of Swing Shift, and has continued for over four decades. Despite their long-term partnership, Hawn and Russell have never married, a decision Hawn has attributed to a belief that marriage is often “big business” and wasn’t necessary for their relationship to thrive.
