OhioHealth Morrow County Hospital Launches Epic’s CareConnect for Enhanced Patient Care | MyChart Access

by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor

Morrow County Hospital in Mount Gilead, Ohio, launched a novel, unified medical record system, CareConnect, on February 22, 2026, following a $6 million investment, according to an announcement from OhioHealth.

The system, powered by Epic, aims to improve patient care by creating a single record for each individual, streamlining communication among healthcare teams and bolstering patient safety. Patients now have access to MyChart, a secure online portal to view appointments, test results, and billing information. The upgrade also included implementation of the Workday software platform and integration of 50 third-party applications designed to enhance resource planning and data security.

“Our $6 million investment in CareConnect and other integrated applications reflects our commitment to innovation and patient-centered care,” said Mike Hyek, President of Morrow County Hospital. “By adopting this cutting-edge technology, we are not only enhancing safety and communication but also empowering our patients and their families to take an active role in their healthcare journey.”

CareConnect’s integration extends beyond Morrow County Hospital, connecting patients and providers across the entire OhioHealth network and linking to other hospitals nationwide that utilize Epic. More than 325 million patients across the country currently have a record within the Epic system.

Through MyChart, patients can manage appointments, communicate with their doctors, access test results, pay bills, and request prescription refills via computer or smartphone. With patient consent, caregivers and family members can also be granted access to a loved one’s MyChart account, providing support for those needing assistance with their healthcare management.

Morrow County Hospital’s adoption of CareConnect is part of a broader initiative by OhioHealth to deliver a consistent patient experience across all its facilities and outpatient locations. OhioHealth MyChart is available online at mychart.ohiohealth.com and through the OhioHealth app.
