The win secured Ohio state’s position as the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff rankings and a chance to lock in a Rose Bowl berth.A loss to Michigan would have jeopardized their championship game appearance, potentially ceding the spot to either Oregon or Michigan based on tiebreakers.
This year’s championship matchup will be Indiana’s first-ever appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game, which began in 2011. While the winner is favored to receive the No. 1 seed in the CFP,even the losing team is likely to earn a first-round bye when the final rankings are released on December 7.
The game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium on December 6 at 8 p.m. ET, televised on FOX. Ohio State last won the Big Ten Championship in 2020, defeating Northwestern.
