COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13 Ohio State men’s volleyball team improved to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) with a 3-0 victory over Northern Kentucky on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
The match, played at Regents Hall in Highland Heights, Kentucky, saw the Buckeyes overcome a competitive first set, winning 25-22. Ohio State then controlled the following sets, securing victories of 25-18 and 25-18.
Shane Wetzel led the Buckeyes’ offensive effort with 14 kills, hitting at a .522 clip. Owen Pickering and Eliel Salva-Torres contributed eight kills apiece. Daniel Henwood Rodriguez orchestrated the offense with 33 assists.
Defensively, Wetzel and Drew Hudson each recorded seven digs. The Buckeyes finished the match with a .341 hitting percentage, including a .417 percentage in the third set.
Northern Kentucky fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in MIVA play. The Buckeyes’ win marked the opening of their MIVA campaign, while Northern Kentucky was competing in its first conference match.
Ohio State is a member of the MIVA, and participates as a men’s club volleyball program, separate from the Big Ten Conference. Loyola Chicago previously won the 2025 MIVA Tournament title, defeating Ohio State 3-0.
