OHIO University Hosts Series of Events to Support New Faculty and Grant Seeking
ATHENS, OH – Ohio University is launching a series of social events and a comprehensive seminar series designed to welcome new faculty and bolster grant-seeking efforts, officials announced today.The initiatives, coordinated by the center for Teaching and Learning Assessment and the Division of Research and Creative Activity, aim to foster collaboration and provide essential resources for faculty success.
New faculty and research staff with appointments beginning in August 2024 or later are invited to a welcome social on Monday, Sept. 29, from 4-6 p.m. at the 1804 lounge in the Baker university Center.The event will feature networking opportunities with established faculty specializing in artificial intelligence – encompassing AI pedagogy, instructional tools, and both basic and applied research. Refreshments will be served.
Two additional New Faculty Socials are scheduled: Oct. 29, from 4-6 p.m. in the Alden LibraryS 1951 Lounge, and Nov. 12, from 4-6 p.m. at the Innovation Center, 340 West State Street, Athens. All events are exclusive to faculty and research staff.
Complementing the social events, the Office of Research Progress is offering a “grants 101” seminar series.The five-part virtual webinar series will run on consecutive Fridays from Oct. 10 through Nov. 7, from 11:50 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Topics include:

* Oct. 17: Grant Writing Basics
* Oct. 24: Finding Grant Funding
* Oct. 31: Budget Development
* Nov.7: Post Award Management
Registration for the “Grants 101” series is open to faculty, staff, and graduate students until Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. and can be completed at https://ohio.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_exL6vDpuFCQZRR4.
Faculty planning to submit applications to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or the National Science Foundation (NSF) on or after Oct. 1, 2025, are encouraged to contact the Office of Research Development or the Office of Sponsored programs Team for information regarding new requirements for NIH Other Support Disclosure and NSF Research Security training.
