Ogle County Republicans Donate $1,500 to Support local‌ Food Pantries

OREGON,⁤ Ill. – The Ogle County Republican Central Commitee has unanimously approved a $1,500 donation to bolster food security within the county, distributing $500 each to three vital organizations.

The committee ‌announced ⁤the‌ donation following what they described as ‌their ⁤most successful fundraising year to date. Recipients include the Rochelle Christian food Pantry, Life-Line Food and⁣ Self Help Project ⁢in Oregon, and Polo Lifeline Food & Self Help Project.

“Our ⁤goal as a society should always be less people on ⁣government food stamps, not more,” stated Ogle GOP ⁤Chairman ⁢Mike Koolidge. “Still, there are many in Ogle County who are currently dependent on SNAP benefits who need that hand up from those in the community.”

Koolidge also addressed the recent‍ government shutdown, criticizing the votes of ‌Illinois Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, alleging their actions prolonged‌ the shutdown for over 40‍ days and negatively impacted families relying on assistance. He‌ expressed concern about potential ‌future political battles over funding.

This donation represents a continued commitment from the Ogle GOP ‌to‍ local food assistance programs. Over the past two years, the ‍institution has contributed ‌a total of $4,000‍ to⁣ independent food pantries throughout Ogle County.

Context: food insecurity remains a notable challenge in many communities, and local food pantries play a‌ crucial role in‍ providing essential support to individuals and families in need.Donations like ⁤these are vital to ensuring these organizations can continue their work, particularly during times of economic uncertainty.
