McKinleyville, CA – Dr. Lois Anne Cook, a dedicated pediatrician who served Humboldt County families for over a decade and continued her medical career in developmental pediatrics and as a hospitalist, passed away in 2025 at the age of 76.
born in 1949, Dr. Cook founded Comprehensive Pediatric Care, P.C., in June 2001, practicing as owner and pediatrician until May 2013. The practice became known as a supportive habitat for children and their families. She later worked as a developmental pediatrician at Open Door Clinic from June 2013 to July 2014, and later as a pediatric hospitalist at Mad River community Hospital beginning in October 2015.
Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Cook mentored aspiring healthcare professionals through the Meritius Foundation. She believed strongly in providing not only medical attention but also affirmation, encouragement, and love to every child.
Dr. Cook found solace and purpose in nature, regularly walking her dogs, Lulu and Muzzy, at a local dog park in McKinleyville, frequently enough returning with bags of blackberries during the season. She was an avid reader with a diverse library reflecting her intellectual and spiritual interests.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Paris; sister, Jeanne; and brothers, leon, john, Mark, and Joe. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marian Jessica Cook, and brother, Danny.
Those who knew Dr. Cook remember her relentless dedication to healing, commitment to service, and compassionate nature. Her legacy will continue through the lives of her patients, colleagues, family, and friends.
