New Catamaran to Service Key Cuban Island Route
Nueva Gerona, Cuba – A new catamaran, the V2V Empresas, will begin service on September 29th, connecting Nueva Gerona, Batabanó, and Cayo Largo del Sur, Cuba’s Minister of transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, announced via social media. The vessel, capable of carrying 240 passengers, will replace the ferry Perseverance as it enters a period of extensive maintenance.
The introduction of the V2V Empresas marks a notable update to this crucial transportation link between the isle of Youth and western Cuba. According to Rodríguez Dávila, “With [the new catamaran] there is also a wind of renewal that blows in the maritime journey of Nueva Gerona to batabano and Cayo Largo.”
The Perseverance will complete its final scheduled voyages on October 1st and 3rd before undergoing maintenance.the V2V Empresas will operate daily routes alternating between Batabanó and Cayo Largo, with one day per week reserved for its own maintenance to ensure safety standards.
Passenger tickets will cost 200 Cuban pesos (CUP) and can be purchased up to fifteen days in advance. Detailed regulations regarding luggage allowances and onboard conduct will be available at terminals and travel agencies.
