NRK Maskorama Moves to Drammen for Season 7 with Eight New Masks
Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation NRK is bringing back its hit entertainment format Maskorama for a seventh season, scheduled to premiere on Saturday, November 8, 2026.
Production Shift and Venue Changes for Season Seven
The upcoming run marks a notable departure from previous seasons by relocating the entire production footprint outside of the capital. According to executive producer Pia Basberg, the production team is packing up the entire set and moving the Saturday night broadcast to Drammen.
Eight New Costumes and Expanded Lineup
Viewers will see an expanded lineup of mystery contestants this year. While the 2024 and 2025 seasons featured seven participants, the 2026 edition ups the count to eight unique characters. Executive producer Pia Basberg notes that the characters bring distinct personalities and varied designs to the stage.
The eight costumes introduced for the 2026 season are:
- Ekornet
- Pingvinen
- Pinnsvinet
- Piraten
- Riksløven
- Vulkanen
- Herr bæsj
- Humla
Basberg states regarding the selection: In year we are back with eight completely new characters, and I think we have got a incredibly nice group. They are very different, full of personality, and here there are many favorites.
Regarding the relocation, Basberg adds: And then something completely new is happening this season. We are soon packing up the whole Maskorama circus and moving to Drammen. It will be exciting and we look forward to creating the big Saturday party in new surroundings. We hope the audience will be just as enthusiastic about this year’s masks as we have become.
Panel Composition and Digital Integration for Younger Viewers
The detective panel tasked with guessing the identities behind the eight masks features returning and familiar entertainment personalities. Tone Damli, Tete Lidbom, and Leo Ajkic form the investigative trio for the 2026 season.
In addition to the broadcast changes, NRK is expanding its digital offerings for younger audiences. The network is introducing a new feature within NRK TV that allows children to select their favorite mask from the series to use as an avatar on their child profile, bridging linear television viewing with interactive digital platform engagement.
