FERC Sets October Intervention Deadline for Proposed Energy Project
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Federal Energy regulatory Commission (FERC) today announced a deadline of 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on October 16, 2025, for potential intervenors in a pending submission for an energy project. This action initiates a critical period for stakeholders-including landowners, environmental groups, and competing energy companies-who may wish to formally participate in the regulatory review process.
The notice concerns a currently undisclosed project requiring FERC authorization. Individuals and entities seeking to become official “parties” to the proceeding must file a motion to intervene with the Commission. Prosperous intervention grants the right to receive all filings related to the project, participate in hearings, and present evidence. Late motions will only be considered with a exhibition of “good cause” and justification aligned with rule 214(d) of FERC’s regulations.
FERC emphasizes that those granted party status will be added to the Secretary’s service list, ensuring receipt of all documents filed by the applicant and other involved parties, either in paper or electronic format.
Interested parties can track the proceeding and access relevant documents through the Commission’s Office of External Affairs at (866) 208-FERC or via the FERC website at www.ferc.gov using the ”eLibrary” link. FERC also offers a free “eSubscription” service-available at www.ferc.gov/docs-filing/esubscription.asp-to automatically deliver notifications of filings, summaries, and direct links to documents in specific dockets.
The notice was formally issued by FERC Secretary Debbie-Anne A.Reese on September 25, 2025.
