FRISCO, TX – North Texas SC captain Sam Sarver has been named the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Moast Valuable Player presented by adidas, the league announced today. Sarver becomes the first player in north Texas SC history too receive the honor, joining Arturo Rodríguez (2019) as the club’s only two MVP awardees.
Sarver’s standout season included being named MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Matchweek for Weeks 19 and 30, and Player of the Month for August. He was also selected to the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Best XI last week and led North Texas SC to victory in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Invitational Cup.
“He is a competitor,a personality,and is someone with huge aspirations,” said head coach John Gall. “He put this team on his back from day one… I am so proud of Sam Sarver, and this is only just the beginning for him. I want to be the first to congratulate him on being the best player in MLS NEXT Pro in 2025,his impact on the league and most importantly,his impact on this organization.”
The forward signed an FC Dallas contract on July 24, after a breakout season with North Texas SC. He has made six appearances for FC Dallas, including one start in Game 1 of the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 series against vancouver, contributing two assists. Prior to joining the Dallas organization, Sarver enjoyed a decorated four-year career at Indiana University, scoring 24 goals and recording 22 assists.
“I feel ecstatic. This was one of the goals I set for myself this year,” Sarver stated. ”It’s a reflection of the whole club and everything they’ve done for me and my teammates… God’s plan I ended up here because Dallas is so good with rewarding guys, and I feel like I fell into the perfect pipeline.” He also noted the significance of hearing the news from Bradley Wright-Phillips, a player he looked up to while growing up.
Sarver follows David Poreba (2024, Chicago Fire FC II), Jack Lynn (2023, Orlando City B), and Jacen Russell-Rowe (2022, Columbus Crew 2) as MLS NEXT Pro MVP winners.The Chesterland, Ohio native is the 37th player to appear for both FC Dallas and North texas SC.
