Beloved Mayo Woman, Nora Biggins, Passes Away at 96
The community of Ballisnahina, Shrule, Co. Mayo, is mourning the loss of Nora Biggins, who passed away peacefully at Friars Lodge Nursing Home on September 16th, 2025, at the age of 96. A life deeply rooted in family adn community, Nora’s passing marks the end of an era for many who knew and loved her. Her extended family, spanning multiple continents, and the wider Glencorrib parish are deeply affected by her loss, as arrangements are made for her final farewell.
Nora, formerly of Ballycurrin, was predeceased by her parents michael and Margaret Biggins, her husband Tom, and siblings Phil, Mary, Sr. Teresa, Paddy, Tom, William, and Gerard, as well as son-in-law martin Joe Keane. She is survived by her children: Mary Teresa Keane (Kilcolgan), Martina Sunderland (Sheffield), Denis (Ballisnahina), Michael (Ballynalty), Brendan (Moycullen), Padraig (Ballisnahina), and Bernard (Monaghan). She also leaves behind daughters-in-law Bridie, Mary-T, Bridie, Martina, son-in-law John Sunderland, 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, sisters Angela (Tipperary), Anne (California), Frances (Dublin), Imelda (Corofin), and brother John (Boston), along with a wealth of cousins, relatives, neighbours, and friends.
Reposing at Ryders Funeral Parlour, Headford (H91 R2V6) on Thursday, september 18th, from 5:30pm until 7:30pm, nora’s remains will be removed from her son Padraig’s home on Friday, September 19th, for Requiem Mass at 2pm in The church of the Immaculate Conception, Glencorrib.
