Nobuhiko Okamoto to Release 40th Birthday Photobook in 2027
Kyoto temples, Kobe streets, and the Kanto region are about to capture a milestone.
A Milestone Project Rooted in Personal Vision
Voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto is marking his 40th birthday with a brand-new photobook. Crunchyroll reports that the release is slated for February 15, 2027, with Japanese publisher Tokyo News Tsushinsha handling the distribution.
The project takes shape around Okamoto’s own proposal. Rather than relying solely on a publisher-led concept, the voice actor suggested numerous shooting situations across Kyoto, Kobe, and areas near the Kanto region. The goal: to capture the distinct facets of his current self.
Two Decades Building an Industry-Defining Voice
Okamoto made his professional voice acting debut in 2006. In the years since, he has built a prominent career by breathing life into some of anime’s most intense and unforgettable characters.
Fans know his work as Accelerator in A Certain Magical Index, Katsuki Bakugo in My Hero Academia, and Himmel in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
A Fifth Collaboration With Tokyo News Tsushinsha
This upcoming publication marks his fourth photobook. It follows a track record with the same publisher, including “NOBLE,” which was shot in Okinawa and published by Tokyo News Tsushinsha in 2023.
While the publisher has not yet announced retail pricing for the February 2027 release, anticipation is already building among his fanbase.
Reflections on Turning 40
Addressing his supporters directly, Okamoto shared his excitement for the upcoming release and the physical milestone it represents:
Thank you so much, as always, for your warm support. I am excited to announce that I will be releasing a photo book to mark the milestone of turning 40! This book expresses the ‘current me’ from various angles, including the worldviews I have always wanted to shoot and my carefully chosen situations. And above all… I am in the best shape of my life!! I hope you enjoy the mature expressions that I can show precisely because of who I am ‘now’ at 40. The only reason I have been able to keep running all the way here is thanks to everyone who always supports me. This is a special work filled with my gratitude to all of you and my desire to show a new side of myself. Look forward to it!
