‘Alien: Earth‘ Renewed For Season 2 as Noah Hawley Extends Deal with Disney Entertainment Television
FX’s ‘Alien: Earth’ has been renewed for a second season, concurrent with an expanded overall deal between creator Noah Hawley and Disney Entertainment Television. The renewal signals confidence in the series, a prequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien, which premiered on FX in February 2024.
The series stars Sydney Chandler and features an expansive ensemble cast including Alex Lawther,Timothy Olyphant,Essie Davis,Samuel Blenkin,Babou Ceesay,David Rysdahl,Adrian Edmondson,Adarsh Gourav,Jonathan Ajayi,Erana James,Lily Newmark,Diem Camille and Moe Bar-El.
Hawley will continue to serve as creator and executive producer. Scott, david W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Macer, john Campisi and Simon Emanuel also serve as executive producers. Alien: Earth is produced by FX Productions.
Disney Television Studios & Global Original television Strategy President Eric Schrier lauded Hawley’s talent, noting a accomplished prior collaboration on Fargo at FX. “I learned first-hand that Noah was a unique talent while we worked on Fargo at FX. He has gone on to make many of the best shows in television, and I couldn’t be more excited that Noah will continue his FX partnership and broaden it across Disney Entertainment Television.”
Hawley’s relationship with FX began with the 2014 premiere of Fargo, which has as garnered seven Emmy Awards (including Outstanding Miniseries) from 70 nominations, three Golden Globe Awards (including Best Miniseries) from 14 nominations, two AFI Awards, and a Peabody Award. The series maintains an average Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 93% and a Metacritic score of 84. His drama Legion averaged a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score over it’s three seasons.
