Ninth China International Import Expo to open in Shanghai in one month

Ninth China International Import Expo to open in Shanghai in one month

October 7, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

A new mill-turn machining center from WFL Millturn Technologies will soon board a transport out of Linz, Austria, bound for Shanghai. It is the first batch of exhibits departing for the ninth China International Import Expo, and a signal that the massive trade fair is exactly one month away from opening its doors.

Shanghai Exhibition Floor Set for Global Giants

Running from November 5 to 10 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, the event will host 169 full-attendance enterprises. Preview data released by finance.people.com.cn shows the exhibition will maintain a 50% returning exhibitor rate, covering roughly 80% of total exhibition space.

Preparations focus heavily on advanced productivity and consumer demand. WFL Millturn Technologies’ debut appearance targets the lucrative Asia-Pacific market.

Product Debuts Across Six Primary Zones

Global corporations have mapped out product debuts across the venue’s six primary zones. Louis Dreyfus Company will exhibit specialized animal nutrition products developed at its Shanghai research center. Rockwell Automation prepares to showcase a control platform alongside green transition technologies.

Other major players are doubling down on partnerships and executive presence. Henkel is partnering with CALB on battery innovation. Estée Lauder will participate with its executive leadership attending in person, as foreign supply chains connect directly with domestic consumer demand.

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) will open in November 2026.

Free Booths Expand Asia-Africa Trade Zone

To promote trade balance and support developing regions, organizers have expanded the Asia-Africa product zone. According to finance.people.com.cn, the initiative offers free booths to least developed nations. This assistance helps countries such as Côte d’Ivoire showcase agricultural exports like coffee, cocoa, and cashews.

At the same time, the China-ASEAN Economic and Trade Center will launch a cross-border entrepreneurial club. The initiative will provide trade services for domestic firms entering Southeast Asian markets.

Municipal Authorities Deliver Operational Guarantees

Behind the commercial displays, municipal authorities in Shanghai have established strict operational guarantees covering transport, customs clearance, and bonded displays. These measures build upon high historical trading volumes. Bailian Group has recorded 170 intended procurement projects over the first eight editions of the fair. Meanwhile, ongoing regional pop-up markets organized by Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub continue to maintain year-round exposure for imported goods.
