Nîmes Drug Bust: 2 Arrested with Cannabis & €30,000 Cash

March 20, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

Nîmes police, acting on intelligence from the Brigade Anti-Criminalité (BAC), seized two kilograms of cannabis and nearly 30,000 euros in cash during a raid on an apartment in the city center on Tuesday, March 17th. Two individuals were taken into custody.

The operation, which involved canine units, targeted a suspected drug storage location, according to a statement released Thursday by the Nîmes police department. The two occupants of the apartment were placed in police custody pending further investigation into their roles in the alleged drug trafficking operation.

Authorities have not released the identities of those arrested, citing the ongoing nature of the inquiry. Investigators are working to determine the source of the cannabis and the origin of the seized funds.

The raid comes amid a series of police actions in the Nîmes area. On the same day, March 17th, police responded to a separate incident involving a scooter theft and the possession of narcotics. A 17-year-old was apprehended after a traffic stop revealed a scooter with a damaged ignition and a small amount of cannabis. That individual was subject to a penal composition, according to local reports.

Earlier in March, on December 3rd, 2025, approximately 40 kilograms of cannabis were seized during a raid on a villa in Nîmes, resulting in one arrest and an injury to a police officer. In September, a police dog detected 14 kilograms of cannabis resin in a traveler’s luggage at the Nîmes Pont du Gard train station.

The Nîmes BAC, featured in the French television program “Appels d’urgence,” routinely confronts violent offenders and drug trafficking operations, according to Coulisses-TV.fr. The program highlights the challenges faced by the 28 officers assigned to the unit.

The investigation into the March 17th drug seizure is ongoing, and no further details have been released by the Nîmes police at this time.
