Ovechkin Inches closer to ⁢Historic 900-Goal ‍Milestone as Capitals Host Blues

WASHINGTON, ‍D.C. ‌- Alex ovechkin has another chance to‌ reach ‍a historic milestone tonight as the Washington Capitals ⁢face the St. Louis Blues at 7:30 p.m. ET (HBO MAX, MNMT, truTV, TNT). Ovechkin currently has 898 career goals, needing just two more to become the fourth player in NHL history to‌ reach 900.

The pursuit of 900 goals places Ovechkin in rarefied air, alongside Wayne Gretzky (894), Gordie Howe (801), and ‍Jaromir Jagr⁤ (766). Reaching this mark would further cement his legacy as one of the greatest goal scorers in⁣ hockey history and intensify⁤ the conversation surrounding his chase of Gretzky’s all-time record of 894 goals. The capitals (7-6-3) will look to support ⁣Ovechkin’s quest against ⁣a⁢ Blues team (7-7-1) seeking to improve their standing in ⁤the Western Conference.

Beyond Ovechkin’s ‌pursuit, tonight’s‍ NHL schedule features several compelling matchups. Nazem ⁢Kadri is set to play in his 721st career game when the Calgary Flames host the Columbus Blue Jackets at 9:30 p.m.ET (SN1, SNW, FDSNOH).‌ Kadri has accumulated‌ 720 ⁢points (310 goals, 410 assists) across his time wiht the Maple ‌Leafs, ‌Avalanche, and‌ Flames, and currently⁢ has 10 points (three goals,‍ seven assists) in 14 games with Calgary (3-9-2) this season.

Rookie⁢ sensation Connor Bedard returns to his hometown of North Vancouver as the chicago‌ Blackhawks visit the Vancouver⁣ Canucks at 10 p.m. ET (TVAS,SNP,CHSN). bedard, with 16 points (six goals, 10⁢ assists) in 13 games, will face the‌ Canucks (7-7-0)⁤ at ‍Rogers Arena, where he was held scoreless in his previous visit last season.

Rounding out the evening, the Seattle Kraken (6-2-4) aim to continue⁣ their strong home record – currently 4-0-2 – as they host the San jose Sharks at‌ 10 p.m. ET (KHN, KING‌ 5, KONG, NBCSCA). A ‍win would put the Kraken one victory‌ shy of tying the franchise record for most consecutive home wins against a single‍ opponent.
