Next-Gen Real Estate: Siblings Join Family Agency with Modern Ambitions

October 26, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

Madeleine and James have joined Immobilière Le Lion, marking a generational shift for the real estate agency as the siblings step in to learn the business alongside their father, Jean. The appointment brings a new wave of international training and digital strategy to the firm, which has operated for over half a century.

A Family Legacy Rooted in Real Estate History

Immobilière Le Lion was founded more than fifty years ago by Suzanne Belgeonne. Madeleine and James grew up knowing Belgeonne, establishing a connection to the agency before their father, Jean, joined the firm and later partnered with the founder. The agency currently maintains a team of fifteen collaborators. James noted that their father successfully built trust across multiple generations of clients, a foundation he and his sister intend to preserve through discretion, competence, and reliability.

International Backgrounds and Complementary Skills

The incoming generation brings distinct educational backgrounds acquired across Europe. James studied international business at Maastricht before shifting to finance, driven by an attraction to rigorous analytical challenges. He subsequently completed a master’s in management specializing in sales and marketing at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. Madeleine studied marketing at the University of Exeter in England, completed coding training, and gained experience in communication and technology before also attending the Instituto de Empresa for the same master’s program.

Their mother is American and their father is Belgian. The siblings communicate in French, English, Dutch, and Spanish, positioning the agency to expand its international reach. James handles analytical and financial operations, while Madeleine focuses on digital marketing and communication.

Learning the Foundations Before Driving Industry Transformation

The incoming pair emphasize practical grounding over immediate disruption. Since April, James has worked within the rental sector, assisting property owners and prospective tenants through day-to-day transactions. Madeleine plans to follow a similar foundational path.

Madeleine believes it is almost impossible to do marketing well and present a property correctly without knowing all aspects of the profession.

James expressed a similar sentiment regarding their initial phase at the agency. They acknowledge having numerous ideas for modernization, technology adoption, and new services, but maintain that understanding every facet of traditional brokerage operations remains the prerequisite for sustainable development.

Jean Mentors Children as They Integrate into Firm

Jean remains at the head of Immobilière Le Lion, providing direct oversight and mentorship as his children integrate into the firm. Madeleine and James acknowledge the weight of the enterprise built before them while expressing confidence in their shared trajectory. Although a future leadership transition is anticipated, the framework of the agency remains anchored in the family history.
