UNM-Gallup Awarded $1.4 Million Grant to Boost Student Success
Gallup, N.M. – The University of New Mexico-gallup will receive over $1.4 million from the U.S. Department of Education through a federal TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant, announced August 28, 2025. the funding will be used to enhance programs designed to increase college retention and graduation rates among low-income and first-generation students.
This grant represents a vital investment in the future of students at UNM-gallup, addressing persistent challenges in higher education access and completion. TRIO SSS provides thorough support services – including academic advising, tutoring, financial literacy workshops, and career exploration – to participants. With this renewed funding,UNM-Gallup aims to expand the reach and effectiveness of these services,ultimately empowering more students to achieve their educational goals and contribute to the region’s workforce.
The UNM Championship Golf Course has again been recognized as one of the state’s best, maintaining its no. 2 ranking in Golf Week Magazine’s list of public-access courses in New Mexico, as of August 28, 2025. The course held the same position in the previous year’s rankings.
Additionally, new department leaders at the University of New mexico recently participated in an orientation program designed to provide them with essential knowledge and support as they transition into their roles. The program, highlighted on August 28, 2025, focused on equipping leaders with the resources needed to succeed within the university system.
