Newborn Baby Found Dead Inside Restaurant Toilet Tank in Philippines

November 6, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Restroom Discovery in Nagcarlan

A waitress working at an eatery in Nagcarlan heard faint cries coming from the establishment’s restroom on Wednesday, prompting a gruesome discovery inside a toilet tank, the Manila Bulletin reported.

Upon investigating the muffled sounds, the employee removed the ceramic lid of the toilet water tank. She found a newborn baby submerged in the water. The infant showed no signs of life and is believed to have drowned. Staff immediately alerted restaurant management, who reported the incident to police.

Police and local officials launched an investigation into the Nagcarlan incident. Authorities subsequently transferred the infant’s body to a funeral parlor.

Earlier Garbage Recovery in Manila

Just two days prior to the restaurant discovery, the remains of another fetus were found inside a shoebox wrapped in plastic, mixed in with roadside rubbish in Quezon City, Manila. A person collecting recyclable materials discovered the box and alerted a nearby resident, who then notified authorities.

The Council for the Welfare of Children condemned both discoveries. Executive Director Undersecretary Angelo Tapales issued a statement regarding the two discoveries.

The circumstances surrounding these discoveries are deeply disturbing. No child’s life or dignity should ever be treated with disregard, and the discovery of fetal and infant remains in places where they were left calls for serious attention and a thorough investigation. We must establish the truth, ensure accountability where warranted, and strengthen the support systems that can help prevent such incidents.

The council emphasized the need for accessible health, social welfare, and psychosocial services for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances, including information on where to seek assistance.

Incident in Athens

Another incident in August involved a baby found dead inside a suitcase in Athens. Police entered a property in Kypseli after a property owner reported that tenants failed to pay rent and were using drugs.

Officers found a 43-year-old Greek man, his 38-year-old German wife, two sons aged 12 and nine, a 15-year-old pregnant girl, and a 26-year-old Afghan man who identified as the girl’s partner. During a search of suitcases inside the residence, authorities located the body of a dead baby stored inside a glass container. According to the news outlet GreekReporter, the infant sustained ten knife wounds to its back.
