Newberry College: Communications & Creative Services Graduate Assistantships – March 2026
Newberry College, a private Lutheran institution in Newberry, South Carolina, is seeking to fill three graduate assistantship positions within its Communications and Creative Services department, according to a posting on the College Sports Communicators career center.
The positions are designed to support the athletics brand, fan engagement, and student-athlete experience through content creation and digital strategy for the college’s 26-sport program and 800 student-athletes. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications and Creative Services, the graduate assistants will contribute to athletics communications, creative content, live video streaming, and statistical reporting.
Responsibilities include assisting in the development and execution of a creative content strategy, producing video, graphics, and written content for digital platforms, and utilizing artificial intelligence tools to streamline operations. One of the graduate assistantships will specifically focus on serving as the primary play-by-play announcer for live streams of athletic events excluding football, basketball, and baseball. Additional duties include website content creation, press release writing, feature story development, and statistical assistance.
Applicants should possess strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities. The role requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, with experience in collegiate athletics communications or creative services preferred.
Successful candidates will be expected to have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. Experience with live streaming and broadcast production, as well as platforms like Genius Sports, StatCrew, and SIDEARM, is also desired. Knowledge of NCAA Division II statistics and communications practices is essential.
