Newark, NJ – DaBaby and Jadakiss have been announced as headliners for the 2025 Newark 24 Hours of peace concert, a cornerstone event of the city’s annual Peace week initiative. The concert, slated to take place during the city-wide effort to curtail violence thru community engagement, will feature performances from both artists as Newark transforms into a hub for arts, culture, and positive social interaction.
The 24 Hours of Peace movement, and its associated concert, represents a proactive approach to addressing crime as a public health issue, according to Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. “We say crime and violence is a public health issue. So if you treat it like public health, then there are different ways you deal with it… To change culture, to tell kids that it’s okay to love, to be peaceful, to shake each other’s hands, to say, ‘I’m sorry’… If we make that okay, the kids make different decisions,” Baraka stated in a 2022 interview. This year’s event builds on previous successes, aiming to foster a climate of peace and unity within the city.
The concert is part of Newark’s larger Peace Week, running from August 31st to September 5th, encompassing a variety of events designed to promote non-violence and community building. Hip-Hop pioneer and festival co-founder Hakim Green described the festival as embodying “the true meaning of Hip-Hop: peace, love, unity, safety, and having fun.” Further details regarding the concert venue and schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
