by Emma Walker – News Editor

WA Corruption ‍and Crime Commissioner Michael‌ corboy has removed sections of ‌a controversial report published by his predecessor, John McKechnie, regarding former WA Japanese trade commissioner Craig Peacock. ‍The alterations⁤ came just weeks after Corboy officially assumed the role, ⁣following a ‌review of both the⁤ original CCC report and a ‌subsequent⁢ report by the⁢ Parliamentary ⁤Inspector.

The removed sections‌ concerned ⁤the basis ⁤of findings ⁤against Peacock, though the CCC maintains its opinion‌ that Peacock engaged in serious misconduct. In a letter to Parliament, Commissioner corboy stated, “Having reviewed the reports, I have steadfast that the commission’s report should‌ be ⁤amended and corrected.” A CCC spokesperson confirmed⁤ the decision followed a thorough ⁢review of ‍the documentation.

McKechnie’s original⁤ report, published five-and-a-half years ago,⁤ sparked‌ debate regarding its findings.⁤ Corboy had been ‍acting in the⁢ Commissioner role since McKechnie’s retirement at the end ⁤of June and was formally appointed to‍ the position two weeks ago.
