New Shake Shack Opens in La Quinta, Expanding Coachella Valley Presence
Shake Shack opened its second Coachella Valley restaurant on Wednesday, August 12, bringing its signature burgers and crinkle-cut fries to La Quinta at 78-772 Highway 111, according to reporting by the Palm Springs Desert Sun. The New York-based burger chain expanded eastward following its initial 2024 debut on El Paseo in Palm Desert, launching the new site to serve local diners despite the summer offseason.
Expansion into La Quinta Brings Hometown Leadership
The newly opened La Quinta restaurant shares a key connection with its predecessor in Palm Desert. According to NBC Palm Springs, General Manager Joseph Sanchez leads the new Highway 111 site after previously helping open the El Paseo location. Raised in La Quinta, Sanchez noted the personal significance of returning to his hometown to manage the branch, stating that bringing the brand to his local community is amazing.

Operating hours for the Highway 111 property, situated near Kohl’s and just east of Washington Street, are structured to accommodate both lunch and late-night crowds. The restaurant operates from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and extends its hours from 10 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, as detailed by the Palm Springs Desert Sun.
Community Support and Opening Day Philanthropy
Opening day crowds packed the new restaurant, demonstrating strong regional interest in the brand’s second valley location. To mark the launch, Shake Shack partnered with local hunger relief efforts. According to the Palm Springs Desert Sun and NBC Palm Springs, the company pledged to donate $1 from every sandwich and burger sold on opening day to FIND Food Bank, a nonprofit organization serving families and children across the Coachella Valley.

Early patrons participating in the opening events included local residents Jessica Carlton and her daughter, Kingsley, who received merchandise and giveaways alongside their orders. Diners at the La Quinta site also received branded handheld fans to counter seasonal regional temperatures. The menu features standard items like the ShackBurger, crinkle-cut fries, milkshakes, and fried chicken sandwiches, alongside regional additions such as the West Coast burger and West Coast chicken sandwich.
Retail Growth Along the Coachella Valley Corridor
The arrival of Shake Shack in La Quinta continues a broader wave of national chain expansions across the Coachella Valley. Over recent years, major brands including Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane’s, and In-N-Out Burger have established footprints along primary regional commercial corridors, matching the ongoing residential and economic growth of eastern Riverside County.
