New Roller Coaster Opens in Bogotá: Salitre Mágico Debuts Rallus
Bogotá expanded its outdoor recreation portfolio on October 19, 2026, by opening a new roller coaster at Salitre Mágico designed around the ecological identity of the local wetlands. Named Rallus after the Bogotá rail, the ride pushes the park’s coaster count to five while integrating engineering teams from the Netherlands, Germany, and Colombia.
The steel structure reaches 20 meters in height and spans 350 meters of track. Riders hit speeds of 60 kilometers per hour through three distinct turns. The ride accommodates children starting at eight years old with a minimum height requirement of 125 centimeters, operating under international safety standards and an energy-efficient infrastructure.
Colombian Engineers Build Control System for New Attraction
International engineering specialists collaborated with Colombian counterparts who built the attraction’s control system from scratch. The concept connects thrill engineering with the conservation profile of the Bogotá rail (Rallus semiplumbeus), a bird native to the capital’s mountain ecosystems and wetlands.
The launch arrives as the capital sustains high tourism metrics. According to figures released by the Instituto Distrital de Turismo, Bogotá welcomed more than 14 million visitors in 2025, with nearly two million coming from international origins. Ángela Garzón, director of the Instituto Distrital de Turismo, pointed to the city’s commitment to the local economy during the inauguration.
Es clave que crean en la ciudad de Bogotá, podían hacer esta inversión en otras ciudades o en otros países, pero decidieron que es Bogotá la ciudad en la que vale la pena hacer esta inversión.
Garzón also noted that 40 percent of foreign visitors express a desire to return for repeat trips. The attraction opens ahead of the city’s broader end-of-year parks and entertainment rollout, scheduled for October 27, 2026, as detailed on the official portal at visitbogota.co.
