Petition Calls for Radical ‍Tax⁣ Overhaul: Abolish PIT,⁤ Eliminate 800+⁢ and Pensions

Warsaw, Poland – A new petition submitted to the Sejm (Polish Parliament) proposes a sweeping overhaul of Poland’s tax and social welfare system, ‌advocating for the complete ‍abolition of the personal income tax ‌(PIT) in exchange for eliminating ‍the 800+ ‍child benefit program, as ‌well as ‍the⁢ 13th and 14th retirement pensions. The ⁤proposal, identified as BKSP-155-X-690/25, is presented as a budget-neutral solution intended⁢ to simplify taxation and address concerns about hidden tax increases.

the petition’s author ⁣argues the proposed changes would create a fairer system for all citizens, together removing numerous complex tax deductions and reliefs. A key benefit⁢ highlighted is addressing the lack ‌of indexation of PIT thresholds, which effectively functions as a recurring, unacknowledged⁣ tax hike. The proposal also aims to satisfy demands for⁢ increasing the tax-free allowance‌ to‍ PLN 60,000, even amidst current budgetary constraints and significant military spending. The petition further stresses the need for⁣ compensation to local ⁤government‌ units⁢ to ensure their financial stability under the new system.
