New Orleans Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with Freedom March and Community Events

New Orleans will honor the life and legacy of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 19, 2026, with a full day of events centered around a freedom march and community service initiatives. The annual party aims to reflect on Dr. King’s contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and continue his pursuit of equality and justice.

Freedom March Details

The centerpiece of the day will be the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom March, beginning at 9:00 AM. The march will commence at Washington avenue and Liberty Street and proceed to Dr. Martin Luther king Jr. Boulevard, culminating in a rally at Congo Square.
