New Orbea Rise eMTB Series Features Shimano EP810 Motor and Lightweight Carbon Frames
Orbea has launched the third generation of its Rise eMTB, utilizing the new Shimano EP810 motor to bridge the gap between lightweight handling and high-torque power. While many eMTB systems suffer from heavy components, the new Rise platform aims to maintain a natural feel
by keeping the overall build weights as low as 17 kg (37.5 lb) for the SL model and 18 kg (39.7 lb) for the LT version. Both models are built on the same carbon fiber frame, allowing for distinct riding configurations while sharing a common power unit capable of producing 100Nm of torque and 600W of peak power.
Dual Platforms for Diverse Terrain
The updated Rise series is divided into two distinct personalities to suit varying trail requirements. The Rise SL is designed for fast trail riding, featuring 140mm of travel front and rear, 29-inch wheels, and a 65-degree head angle. In contrast, the Rise LT offers a more aggressive geometry with 160mm of front travel and 150mm at the rear. The LT model also incorporates a flip-chip in the shock yoke to adjust geometry and provides compatibility for mixed-wheel setups.
- Rise SL and Rise LT configurations
- Shimano EP810 motor with proprietary RS and RS+ firmware
- Modular battery options: 420Wh or 630Wh internal units, plus a 210Wh range extender
Custom Firmware and Motor Tunes Enhance Power Delivery
Central to the new platform is Orbea’s Rider Synergy (RS) philosophy, which focuses on power delivery that complements the rider’s own effort. Orbea has flashed the EP810 motor with custom firmware, allowing users to toggle between two base tunes: RS, which is optimized for battery efficiency, and RS+ for maximum assistance. This power is managed through a sleek HMI control unit, which also operates the new MC10-RS Smart Dropper seatpost. The dropper features a Time-of-Flight sensor to enable advanced functions like Partial Drop
and Ready-To-Drop
.
Through the MyOrbea (MyO) custom program, riders can further tailor their experience by selecting color schemes and adjusting ergonomic components such as handlebars and cranks at no additional cost. The Rise series is currently available with pricing ranging from $6,284 to $12,347 depending on the selected build kit.
