Nevada Track & Field Finishes 2nd at Mountain West Indoor Championships | School Records Fall

Reno, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack track and field team achieved its highest-ever finish at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, securing second place with 84 points on Saturday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. This marks the program’s best conference result in the Mountain West era and its finest indoor championship showing since winning the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) title in 2004.

The championships, held February 26-28, saw Novel Mexico claim the overall team title with 165 points, followed by Nevada, Colorado State (73 points), Boise State (60 points), and San Diego State (56.50 points).

Annalies Kalma was a standout performer for the Wolf Pack, securing a school record in the 200m final with a time of 23.27 seconds, earning 10 points. She also claimed a silver medal in the 400m, finishing in 51.84 seconds for an additional 8 points. Kalma’s individual performance yielded a total of 18 points on Saturday, contributing to Nevada’s first Mountain West gold medal at the indoor championships since 2024.

Meekness Dogonyaro also achieved a personal best, breaking her own indoor school record in the triple jump with a leap of 13.19m, earning a silver medal and 8 points. Kaja Maltaric, who previously won silver in the long jump, added to the team’s tally with a career-best jump of 12.52m in the triple jump, finishing fifth and securing 4 points.

Johanna Haas contributed 3 points to the team score with a sixth-place finish in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.64 seconds. She accumulated a total of 11 points throughout the championships, including a silver medal in the pentathlon.

Magdalene George finished fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.36 seconds, earning 5 points for Nevada.

The Wolf Pack concluded the championships with a strong performance in the 4x400m relay, with the team of Malena Galvan, Kylee Parsons, Halyn Senegal, and Annalies Kalma finishing second in a time of 3:38.40, adding 8 points to the team’s total. Senegal ran splits of 24.90, and 28.73, propelling the Pack into second place.

Nevada also earned valuable points in the Silver State Series, finishing eight positions ahead of UNLV.

The Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships began on Thursday, February 26, with New Mexico dominating the distance events on the first day. Air Force’s Texas Tanner won the men’s weight throw on Friday, as Colorado State and Nevada began to make their mark on the competition.
