Netflix Announces Stranger Things Prequel Series Other Worlds for 2028
Netflix announced a live-action prequel series titled Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, scheduled to premiere in 2028. The new series moves away from the fictional town of Hawkins and shifts the timeline to 1955 in the fictional town of Marion, Nevada. Netflix made the plans public on Stranger Things Day, which is celebrated annually on November 6 to mark the date Will Byers disappeared in the original series on November 6, 1983.
Creative Team Returns for Production
The Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, return as executive producers alongside Shawn Levy, Paul Dichter, Shelley Meals, Andrea Sperling, and Pavlina Hatoupis. Kate Trefry serves as showrunner and executive producer, while Joe Wright directs the first three episodes. The Duffer brothers created the series alongside writer Kate Trefry, and Joe Wright is known for directing the films Pride & Prejudice and Atonement.
