UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The Nebraska volleyball team delivered a commanding performance Friday night, sweeping Penn State 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-16) at Rec Hall. Nebraska Head Coach John Cook attributed the team’s success to their strong passing and ability to handle Penn State’s aggressive serving. ”they just looked confident,” Cook said. “Our passing was very good from the start, and this is a very hard place to pass. on top of that, that is a very good serving team, and when we handled the first few tough serves, it was like, ‘Okay, this can be fun.'”
The Huskers’ dominant performance extended beyond serve receive, as they consistently forced the Nittany Lions into uncomfortable hitting situations. Assistant Coach Kristin Busboom Kelly emphasized the team’s preparation and execution. ”They just looked confident. Our passing was very good from the start, and this is a very hard place to pass,” she stated.
Following the match, Busboom Kelly highlighted a shift in the team’s demeanor, noting a newfound sense of celebration and confidence. ”I’ve been waiting for this team to celebrate some little things,” she explained. “Tonight, that wasn’t this really tough match we played. Normally, we wouldn’t be celebrating, but they celebrated that.It just felt like a little bit of swag coming in,where maybe we’ve been lacking a little swag the last few games.”
Nebraska will now turn its attention to a Saturday matchup against Rutgers, who defeated Maryland in four sets on Friday evening.
