FARGO, N.D. – Freshman lexi Vincelli of North Dakota State University shattered the programme’s single-round scoring record and secured her frist collegiate victory at the NDSU Invitational, leading the Bison to a dominant team title on tuesday.
Vincelli carded a second-round 66, improving her career-low by 22 strokes, to finish at -1, the only golfer in the 25-player field to finish under par.NDSU’s team score of 589 secured a 15-stroke victory, marking their second-largest margin of victory in NDSU Invitational history. The win underscores the program’s continued ascent under Head Coach Dani Stinson and positions the Bison for further success as they head into the remainder of the fall season.The Bison finished the 36-hole event at +13, comfortably ahead of South Dakota (+28) and North Dakota (+52). Norah Roberts finished as runner-up at +1 (69-76–145), while Madi Hicks tied for third at +6 (71-79–150). Hannah Dunk and Avery Bartels both finished in a tie for eighth at +9 (75-78–153, 76-77–153), respectively. Jeri Lafleche tied for 12th at +11 (78-77–155).Cora Larson finished 16th at +18 (76-86–162) and Bella Leonhart placed 23rd at +29 (85-88–173).
Vincelli’s performance included a +3 on the day, while Roberts was -1 through the front nine. Both Dunk and Bartels were even through the front nine, each recording one birdie. Lafleche recorded two birdies in the front nine of the second round, improving her position by three spots.
