NDSU Wrestling Dominates Concordia-Moorhead in Season-Opening Sweep
FARGO, ND - North Dakota State University wrestling began its 2023-24 season with a decisive 46-0 victory over Concordia college-Moorhead Friday evening at the Bentson Bunker. The Bison showcased their strength across all weight classes, securing wins in every bout and demonstrating early-season form.
The extensive win signals a strong start for NDSU, ranked among the nation’s top wrestling programs. The night’s action commenced with a technical fall from Dragomir Radoicic (NDSU) over Kie Anderson (CC) at 125 pounds,finishing 20-4. NDSU quickly extended its lead, reaching 15 points after Devon Harrison secured a major decision over Jack Major at 141 pounds, winning 15-6. Gabriel Gallardo followed with a technical fall against Jackson Marr at 149 pounds, concluding with a score of 19-3, bringing the team total to 20.
Brandon dean added to the Bison’s momentum with a 6-4 decision over Christopher Acuna at 157 pounds, increasing the lead to 23-0. Boeden Greenley then earned a major decision against Zach Pribyl at 165 pounds, finishing 17-6, pushing the score to 27. Luke Hoag continued the winning streak with a 15-9 decision against Brody Duke at 174 pounds, making it 30-0.
andrew McMonagle delivered a fall against Isaiah Schmitz at 184 pounds in 2:15, extending NDSU’s advantage to 36-0. devin Wasley secured a technical fall over William Freking at 197 pounds, concluding with a score of 17-2, bringing the team total to 41. Shilo Jones capped off the night with a technical fall against Zach Carnes at 285 pounds, finishing 20-3, and finalizing the 46-0 sweep.
Along with the scored dual meet bouts, NDSU wrestlers competed in extra matches. devon harrison earned a fall over Aiden Downing in 1:46 at 141 pounds. Gabriel Gallardo secured a 16-9 decision against Zachary Thompson at 149 pounds. porter Craig achieved a technical fall over Nicholas Ankeny at 165 pounds, finishing 23-2.
