RENO, Nev. - NC state volleyball continued its strong start to the season with a decisive 3-0 victory over Nevada on Thursday at the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas Classic. The win improves the Wolfpack‘s record to 4-1 on the season adn marks the program’s 820th all-time victory.
Senior outside hitter Courtney Bryant spearheaded the attack,earning All-Tournament team honors alongside freshman outside hitter Rebecca Ring.Bryant tied her career-high with four service aces and led all scorers with nine kills and a.500 hitting percentage.
NC State dominated the match from the outset, winning the sets 25-18, 25-21, and 25-16. The Wolfpack opened the first set with a fast 10-6 lead, forcing an early Nevada timeout. A six-point scoring run extended the advantage, fueled by Bryant’s service.
The second set saw NC State jump to a 10-4 lead, again prompting a Nevada timeout. Bryant’s fourth ace came on the Pack’s 16th point. In the final set, Ring and freshman Jordan Smith each contributed three kills as NC State built a 10-6 lead and ultimately closed out the match with a 5-0 run.
This victory represents the first-ever win against Nevada, the fourth under head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney, and the team’s first road win of the season.
