RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 23 NC State men’s tennis team secured a decisive 4-0 victory over No. 43 Georgia Tech Friday evening at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center, marking their first ranked win of the season and a strong start to conference play.
The Wolfpack quickly established control, claiming the doubles point with wins from the pairings of Cody Benton and Ainius Sabaliauskas and Charlie Camus and William Manning. The duo of Benton and Sabaliauskas defeated Owen DeMuth and Elias Shokry 6-2, while Camus and Manning topped Gianluca Carlini and Jonathan Irwanto 6-4.
NC State’s momentum continued into singles play. Senior Martin Borisiouk dominated his opponent, Christophe Clement, winning 6-1, 6-0. Ainius Sabaliauskas followed with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Jonathan Irwanto, extending the Wolfpack’s lead to 2-0.
The match was clinched by Jules Leroux, who defeated Elias Shokry 6-3, 7-5 on court four. William Manning was also in contention, winning the first set 6-3 before ultimately taking the match 3-6, 6-3, 1-0.
The Wolfpack will remain at home to face No. 28 Clemson on Sunday at noon before embarking on a road trip next week. The match against Georgia Tech concluded in just under two hours, with an attendance of 96.
