NBA YoungBoy‘s Second atlanta Concert Canceled Following Controversial Performance
ATLANTA, GA – NBA YoungBoy’s second scheduled concert in Atlanta has been canceled, just one day after a performance marred by a controversial diss track and a disputed “Key to teh city” presentation. State Farm Arena announced the cancellation of the Saturday, October 18th show on Thursday, October 16th, with automatic refunds being issued to Ticketmaster purchasers. Those who bought tickets through third-party resellers were directed to contact their point of purchase.
The cancellation follows Wednesday night’s concert where the Baton Rouge rapper performed “I Hate YoungBoy,” a song containing disses aimed at Atlanta artists 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, and Lil Baby, as well as Lil Durk and the late King Von. Reports also indicated the presence of the latter’s alleged killer onstage during the performance.
The City of Atlanta has distanced itself from the presentation of a Key to the City to NBA YoungBoy, clarifying through the Mayor’s Office of Film Entertainment & Nightlife (AMOFEN) that the recognition came from Fulton County and the State of Georgia. AMOFEN stated, “While we respect all individuals and agencies who choose to recognize cultural or community impact, the city of Atlanta and the Mayor’s Office of Film, Entertainment and Nightlife were not involved in this presentation. This recognition was made by representatives of Fulton county and the State of Georgia.”
This cancellation is not the first disruption to NBA YoungBoy’s “MASA Tour.” Previous dates in Detroit and Chicago were also canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances” and speculated safety concerns, respectively. The tour is scheduled to continue with a stop in New Orleans on Sunday, October 19th.
Despite the tour issues, NBA YoungBoy continues to focus on new music, announcing on Thursday that his next album, Slime Cry, will be released on November 28th.
