Comedian Nawell Madani to Face Alternative Dispute Resolution in Alleged Assault Case
PARIS – Comedian Nawell Madani, 45, has been summoned to appear in court regarding an incident last month where she allegedly struck a child in a Paris street, according to reports from Le Monde and Agence France-Presse. However, rather than a traditional trial, Madani will participate in an “alternative measure” – a mediation process – aimed at resolving the case outside of court.
The incident occurred in the 16th arrondissement of Paris on October 26th. Details released by the Paris prosecutor’s office indicate the child’s mother filed a complaint alleging Madani intentionally hit her son. While the exact circumstances leading to the alleged assault remain unclear, the case has drawn public attention given Madani’s profile as a prominent figure in French comedy and film. Alternative dispute resolution, often involving mediation with a judge present, is frequently employed in france for less severe offenses, offering a path to reconciliation and avoiding a perhaps lengthy and public trial.
Madani rose to prominence through her work at the Jamel Comedy Club and has as starred in films such as Alibi.com. She also created and starred in the Netflix series So far, so good and the film It’s all for me. She was recently announced as a member of the jury for the Miss France 2025 competition.
The outcome of the mediation process is currently unknown. If an agreement is reached between Madani and the child’s family, the case will be closed. If no agreement is reached, the case may proceed to a formal trial.
