ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy extended its winning streak to seven games with a 21-13 victory over Rice on Saturday, fueled by a dominant rushing attack and a stifling defense. Quarterback Blake Horvath led the Midshipmen with 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns,while Alex Tecza added 104 yards on the ground.
The win marks the first time since the 1978-79 seasons that Navy has started 4-0 in consecutive years. This victory solidifies Navy’s position in the American athletic Conference and continues a period of sustained success for the program, building momentum as they navigate the remainder of their schedule.
Horvath found the end zone on an 8-yard run in the second quarter and a 2-yard run in the fourth. Luke Hutchinson opened the scoring with a 2-yard reverse. Navy amassed 283 rushing yards and 455 total yards,with Horvath completing 8 of 13 passes for 172 yards and one interception.
Rice (3-2, 1-1) managed only 234 total yards, with their scoring coming late in the game. Enoch Gota connected on field goals of 35 and 44 yards, and Chase Jenkins threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Drayden Dickmann in the fourth quarter.
MarcAnthony Parker anchored the Navy defense with 13 tackles, limiting Rice’s offensive opportunities.
