Unlam Secures Narrow Victory, Maintains Championship lead
LA MATANZA – The National University of La Matanza (Unlam) continued its strong form with a 1-0 victory over San Patricio B on April 9th, solidifying its position at the top of the E2 championship standings. The win marks Unlam’s fourth consecutive victory and keeps them level on points with the Southern Association.
The match remained scoreless through the frist half, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to capitalize. Unlam struggled to exploit its usual strength in short corners and faced challenges in building cohesive attacking plays.
the breakthrough came early in the second half, with Nicole Castro scoring a deflected goal following a shot from within the penalty area.Castro now has ten goals this season, placing her fourth in the tournament’s scoring charts. Following the goal, Unlam strengthened its defense and managed the remainder of the game effectively to secure the three points.In other category results, the Intermedia team drew 0-0, Quinta won 3-0, Friday secured a 1-0 victory, and Seventh dominated with a 5-0 win.
Unlam, now with 42 points, will face Students of La Plata B away on Saturday at 16:00. The Platense team has drawn its last four matches.
