National sport Summit Concludes, Charting Course for System-Wide Reform
September 19, 2025 – The National Summit on the Future of Sport has concluded, bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders to address critical issues of safety, inclusion, and accountability within Canadian sport. Commissioner Lise Maisonneuve expressed gratitude to the hundreds of participants – including victims and survivors of maltreatment,athletes,coaches,parents,administrators,academics,and advocates – who contributed to the pivotal discussions.
The Summit focused on feedback regarding the Commission’s Preliminary Report, specifically proposals for a Centralized Sport Entity and a national safe-sport strategy prioritizing prevention, education, accountability, and system-wide reform. participants overwhelmingly reinforced a collective commitment to building a more positive and equitable sport surroundings.
“The responses we heard not only underscored the collective commitment to advance a safer, more inclusive, equitable, and accountable sport system, but also strengthened the Commission’s path forward,” Maisonneuve stated.
All feedback received will directly inform the Commission’s Final Report, scheduled for publication in March 2026.
