National Sport Summit Feedback: Commission’s Next Steps

National sport Summit Concludes, Charting Course for System-Wide Reform

September 19, 2025 – The National Summit on the Future of Sport has concluded, bringing together a diverse range ⁢of ‍stakeholders to address critical issues of safety, inclusion, and accountability within Canadian sport. Commissioner Lise Maisonneuve expressed gratitude to the hundreds of participants – including victims and survivors of maltreatment,athletes,coaches,parents,administrators,academics,and advocates – who contributed to the pivotal discussions.

The ⁢Summit focused on feedback⁢ regarding the Commission’s Preliminary Report,‌ specifically⁣ proposals for a Centralized Sport‍ Entity and a national safe-sport strategy prioritizing prevention, education, accountability, and⁢ system-wide reform. participants⁢ overwhelmingly reinforced a collective commitment to building a more positive and equitable sport surroundings.

“The responses we heard not only underscored the collective commitment to advance⁣ a safer, more inclusive, equitable, and accountable‍ sport system,‍ but also strengthened the Commission’s path forward,” Maisonneuve stated. ⁢

All feedback received will directly inform the Commission’s Final Report, scheduled⁢ for ⁢publication in ‌March 2026.
