Napoli Considering Ajax‘s Kenneth taylor as Midfield Reinforcement
Napoli is actively exploring midfield options in the January transfer window, with Ajax’s Kenneth Taylor among those under consideration, according to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian champions are seeking to bolster their squad following injuries to key players Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa, and Billy Gilmour.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna has initiated contact with several clubs, including Ajax regarding Taylor. Though, the 21-year-old is not Napoli’s primary target. Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo is currently Manna’s first choice, and inquiries have already been made in England.
Should a move for Mainoo prove unsuccessful, Napoli will turn its attention to option targets, with Taylor, Arthur Atta of Udinese, and Morten Frendrup of Genoa all being evaluated. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Manna has already made inquiries about Taylor, and Napoli possesses the financial resources to pursue the Ajax captain.
Ajax is reportedly open to allowing Taylor to depart in the winter transfer window and will not seek a replacement should he leave. Taylor’s current contract with the Amsterdam club runs until the summer of 2027. While Ajax was receptive to a transfer last summer, they demanded a notable transfer fee, ultimately preventing a move.
