Nancy Mayor Klein on 2026 Election Victory & City’s Progress
Nancy Mayor Mathieu Klein secured a decisive re-election victory on Sunday, March 22, 2026, garnering nearly 50% of the vote in the second round of municipal elections, according to definitive results. His challenger, Laurent Hénart, trailed by a ten-point margin.
Speaking after the results were announced, Klein emphasized the significance of this election compared to his initial win in 2020. “The election of 2020, it was a strong desire for change that was expressed. The election of 2026 is something a little different. it’s the record we proposed in this campaign, the values we put into the debate, the projects that are thus validated with a clear and unambiguous result,” he stated, as reported by France3 Régions.
The victory was celebrated by Klein and his supporters at the Jojo bar in Place Stanislas, where he was greeted with applause and presented with a rose, the symbol of the Socialist Party. The results mark a continuation of Klein’s leadership, first established in 2020.
Laurent Hénart, representing the centrist Parti radical, conceded defeat and announced he would not be a candidate in future municipal elections in Nancy. The results as well indicate a successful showing for the far-left La France Insoumise (LFI) party, with candidate Sarah Farghaly securing 10% of the vote and a seat on the municipal council.
Official results from the Ministry of the Interior reveal NANCY GRANDIT, led by Mathieu Klein, received 14,353 votes (49.68%), while Nancy avec vous, led by Laurent Henart, received 11,482 votes (39.74%). Nancy Insoumise garnered 3,056 votes (10.58%). Overall participation in the second round reached 52.29%, with 29,497 voters casting ballots out of 56,412 registered electors. There were 384 blank votes (1.30%) and 222 null votes (0.75%).
In other results from the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, the Rassemblement National (RN) achieved a breakthrough victory in Val-de-Briey, marking the first time the far-right party will govern a city in the region.
