Bekasi,‌ Indonesia The Bekasi Islamic University 45 (Unisma) is now ‍under the official management of the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah, following a‌ years-long process of ⁤collaboration and restructuring. the transfer was formalized during a ceremony Tuesday (September 16th) marking the Prophet ⁢Muhammad’s Maulid.

muhammadiyah Central Chairman Muhadjir Effendy emphasized the transition wasn’t abrupt. “this process⁣ has⁤ been very⁣ long,” he stated, adding that Unisma Bekasi and Muhammadiyah “are one DNA…we are the same DNA.”

The relationship between the ⁣two institutions dates back to 1993, when the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) began assisting Unisma Bekasi. This support included ‌leadership restructuring, notably the appointment of Prof. Dawam Rahardjo as Chancellor from⁣ 1996 ‌to 2000, and⁣ the leadership of Cecep Effendi, a lecturer from Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ), ⁤during the⁢ same period.

Muhadjir noted that while management ⁢changes will be implemented gradually to ensure a stable learning environment, the handover represents a significant milestone. He ⁢anticipates the strengthened partnership⁣ will positively impact education in Bekasi, throughout Indonesia, and on a global scale.
