Mouse PI For Hire: Release Details, Switch & AI Discussion
The noir-fueled first-person shooter Mouse: P.I. For Hire is slated for release on April 16, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, according to multiple sources.
Developed by Fumi Games and published by PlaySide Studios, the game draws inspiration from classic 1930s cartoons, featuring a distinctive rubber hose animation style. Players assume the role of Jack Pepper, an anthropomorphic mouse detective voiced by Troy Baker, navigating a city rife with corruption. Gameplay blends investigative sections, requiring players to find clues and solve puzzles, with fast-paced combat utilizing a variety of weapons and gadgets.
The release date was initially set for March 19, 2026, but was slightly delayed, as announced by Fumi Games on social media. The game’s development was first publicly confirmed in October 2025, with initial plans for a 2025 release. A trailer showcasing the “Robo-Betty Boss Fight” was released on February 19, 2026.
Mouse: P.I. For Hire will be available both digitally and physically. Physical standard editions for both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 are scheduled for release on July 10, 2026. Details regarding deluxe editions have too been confirmed.
Fumi Games’ CEO recently discussed the game’s development, highlighting ambitions to create a title that extends beyond its striking visual style, aiming for a satirical metroidvania shooter with “adult, deep, gripping storylines.” The game utilizes the Unity engine.
