Moses Moody Injury: Warriors Face Blow in Dallas | Updates
Golden State Warriors wing Moses Moody was stretchered off the court late in Monday night’s 137-131 overtime victory against the Dallas Mavericks after suffering a noncontact left knee injury, according to reports from ESPN and multiple authors.
The injury occurred with 1:13 remaining in the extra period. Moody stole the ball from Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg and, while attempting a dunk, his left knee buckled, causing him to fall to the floor. Play continued briefly before officials stopped the game as medical personnel attended to Moody.
Teammates and staff gathered around Moody, and a stretcher was brought onto the court. Draymond Green embraced Moody before he was removed from the arena. Stephen Curry was visibly shaken on the bench, according to reports.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr stated after the game that the team did not yet know the extent of the injury, but acknowledged it “sure looked bad.” “We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad,” Kerr said. “Just hoping for the best.”
Draymond Green echoed Kerr’s concern, telling NBA on ESPN Radio that Moody had been playing exceptionally well and his injury was a significant blow to the team. “It’s brutal, you know we’ve been waiting to acquire back healthy,” Green said. “Moses is a guy who does everything right … and he changed the game for us tonight.”
Moody had 23 points and three steals in the game against the Mavericks, and had been effectively defending Flagg throughout the second half. The injury marks a setback for Moody, who had recently returned to the lineup after missing the previous 10 games with a right wrist sprain.
The Warriors have announced that Moody will travel back to the Bay Area with the team and undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the knee injury.
